CFE History

CFE Federal Credit Union was founded in 1937 as Orange County Teachers’ Federal Credit Union. Twenty-three dedicated teachers became the credit union’s charter members. At that time, the credit union offered members basic savings accounts and small loans.

During the past seventy years, CFE has grown from a small financial cooperative to the thriving credit union it is today with over $1.1 billion in assets and approximately 118,000 members. After obtaining a community charter in 2006, CFE expanded membership to all who live, work, attend school, volunteer or worship in Orange, Osceola, Lake or Seminole counties as well as those with a business or legal entity. Now, more people than ever before can take advantage of high-rate savings accounts, low-cost loans, real estate loans, free internet access and many other convenient services.

Though the credit union’s name has changed a few times over the past seven decades, CFE remains true to the credit union philosophy of people helping people with a full range of financial products of value and convenience.

Our dedication to providing members with unsurpassed service is as strong today as it was long ago. Service has always been the cornerstone of CFE’s success and longevity. Some things never change.
